Dr. B has been incredibly helpful for me. She created systems that were put in place to help me stay on top of my work and has helped me manage my workload along the way. Dr. B has also taught me how to be a more organized person academically, and this has really shown in my grades. If I ever need help with an assignment, especially in English, Dr. B has been more than happy to coach me through it.

Dr. Lisa Babinec is dedicated to serving students who need support in unlocking what can sometimes be a mystery to learning. The care she shows for each student she works with, coupled with her dedication, is only surpassed by the many years of experience she has teaching in middle school, high school, and college classrooms. Dr. B. has a brilliant way of making difficult content personal and understandable, meeting students where they are and propelling them to new insights and awareness. As a mother, she also understands the perspective of parents and the passion they have for helping their children find value in who they are as learners. As a School Psychologist, I often refer families to Dr. B. in situations where a student needs help with reading, writing, executive functioning, or academic coaching, or for those who wish to have enrichment experiences.

My son needed help identifying strategies that would help him be successful in high school. Our school psychologist recommended Dr. Babinec's help. After my two older kids had her as a teacher we were confident she could identify his executive skills strengths as well as areas for improvement. Together they have set achievable goals and are on a path to independence. With Dr. Babinec's help he is quickly transforming into the student he has always wanted to be.

Lisa is an exceptional teacher, thinker, and innovator. She takes the time to build trust in relationships, which allows her to truly connect with her students while meeting them where they are at and helping them to develop into the learners they want to be. Drawing on evidence-based strategies, years of classroom experience, and intuition, Lisa devises and implements goal-oriented strategic interventions, which are monitored and modified as necessary. Lisa is empathetic, encouraging, and positive, always knowing when to push and when to pull back so that students can build both confidence and skills, and ultimately struggle less in school.

I worked with Lisa as part of a 5th Grade teaching team and Learning Support Specialist. When working with teachers, Lisa shares her expertise in a direct, kind, and clear way. She is consistently mindful of student and family privacy. She is a keen observer and understands how to design, monitor, and implement support strategies that are both effective and realistic in classroom settings. I think Lisa's greatest strength is the way she communicates with families as they experience the learning support process and consider undergoing/embark on an evaluation process for their student. Lisa approaches these conversations with empathy and understanding. She partners with families and offers guidance in a gentle and clear manner. I credit the success that many of my students and families had through an evaluation process to her recommendations and facilitation of these conversations.

I’ve really enjoyed working with Dr. Babinec; she has helped me a lot with my transition from high school to college. I’ve learned how to prioritize assignments and studying so that I can best succeed in my college STEM/pre-med courses. The studying strategies I’ve learned from Dr. Babinec have helped me make the most of my reviewing time and be successful in exams, and the note-taking systems have really maximized my ability to capture information.
